History - About Us
Hillcrest home bakery was established in May 2000 in Kilmovee, Ballaghadereen, Co. Mayo. Formed by four women, following the closure of a local bakery, the founders saw an opportunity to establish a high-quality confectionery business.
Hillcrest initially commenced production with two high quality comedy series which included a 9” inch apple tart and 9” rhubarb tart. Since then, Hillcrest home bakeries high quality product range has increased with a great selection of confectionaries including fruit and scorns brown scones combat ginger and treacle bread, rock bonds classic cake range and much more.
The co-founders of Hillcrest home bakery limited, Attracted Duffy, Angela Hession, Mary Higgins Molloy, and Patricia Anderson all take an active role in managing and working the business with each having experience of working in various departments of the confectionary sector.
Our business is located on the outskirts of Charlestown, county Mayo in close proximity to Roscommon and Sligo. We operate in a purpose-built production faculty facility which is governed by FSAI legislation and monitored by county Mayo. EHO. We continue to maintain a fully operational HACCP system with full traceability to ensure customer confidence in our products.
Our business is built on a tradition of good quality baked products, produced to the highest quality. We use a short crust rich pastry, and our apple and rhubarb tarts are filled with a high fruit content. We offer a wide variety of products to our customers. All our products are handmade and home baked.
Our aim is to grow the business going forward but to always maintain a high level of good quality baked products. We employ a workforce of nine people, of which the majority have been with us from the start. We hope to maintain this and into the future to employ more people.
